Goldman Analyst Changes from ManhattanGMAT to GMATPill.com Online Videos

So Paul, a Goldman Sachs analyst and student who recently logged into the GMATPill.com messaged me stating he wanted to help others learn about the GMAT Pill based on his relatively positive experience with the videos in the first few days. Prior to coming to GMAT Pill, he enrolled in the ManhattanGMAT program and viewed Kaplan and Princeton Review resources. Ultimately, he finds the most value in the GMAT Pill’s thought-process driven approach.

GMATPill: Hey guys! Paul is here with us these days. Come together in, Paul!

Paul: Hey, Zeke! Thanks for having me on.

GMATPill: Paul, you’ve actually been a member of gmatpill.com for just a couple of days ago, isn’t that right?

Paul:Yea. I actually signed up a couple days ago so I’ve been a member for about 5 days.

GMATPill: Let’s begin by going over your background first so listeners can get a sense of your role.

Paul: Sure. So I went to University of Connecticut, class of 2006. Then I went to are employed in New York with the investment bank Goldman Sachs & Company.

Cut and pasted I am considering school and would like to take my GMAT. First I did ManhattanGMAT–paid about $1500-$1600 for it. I took the class, went through the film recordings but felt some of it wasn’t effective. So I looked around for something else and encountered the GMAT Pill–was quite impressed, nevertheless.

Paul: Really I was very frustrated by the test prep material in the marketplace. You can go out and go to a book store and buy books or you may take a test prep. And I really feel like this is a very high priced investment to find out the way to take this GMAT and I figure that must be a better way. And I think that the ways in which these test firms teach the GMAT are geared towards you using them again and again or taking private tutoring. So it’s just a massive investment and I there needs to be an improved way and GMATPill was very effective.

GMATPill: So you feel as if they sort of got you into their basic program and they tried to upsell you on their own tutoring sessions.

GMATPill: It works by you are saying that you enrolled in their basic program and then tried to trade you on their tutoring packages.

GMATPill:You mentioned before your experience so far with the GMAT Pill is better and you mentioned pricing. Can you go into a little more detail what other places you feel it’s better in? Of these products there is a pricing component-it’s only a fraction of what the marketplace- not merely Manhattan GMAT-but what the market charges. But what other aspects do you see specifically makes your experience better so far?

GMATPill: Money pricing is a major benefit of the GMAT Pill, but what other reasons and elements of the GMAT Pill would you say make your experience with the program that a good deal superior to the other guys?

GMATPill:So you feel as if the academic approach versus the thought procedure that I show students through these film recordings-the thought process is actually better than the academic rigor that the other programs walk you through.

Paul:You see, academic rigor is a good thing–but it does not come more or less practical experience. So I can teach you how to create a car or truck. I’ll teach you how to put on the wheels, how to install the different components of the engine. And if you find at a manuscript-if I inform you to create that truck, it’s not gonna happen. But if you have a garage mechanic who’s experiencing every single piece available, standing alongside you, strolling through ok this is the reason why you must do this..it sticks with you much longer..this sort of hand holding that shows you what exactly you have to do at each individual step- that is how you learn something. It’s not through reading through a manuscript. I personally think you can read for years-and it’s not practical. Your company got 3 months to learn for GMAT-I would much rather have somebody on video teach you what exactly I must do than to read through a book. I mean I think Kaplan books are like 400 pages. Manhattan has like 8 books or something like that. They can no way you’re gonna get through all the material. And even if you do, you’re not going to understand half of it.
