How the Xbox 360 Works

The public’s interest in gaming consoles rises and falls with the ability of the company to provide a new gaming experience. However, when you come out with a new and improved product it usually comes with a not so improved price. With prices going up Microsoft was the first to step up and provide a new gaming experience that took on the higher price but sold over 20 million units. They came out with the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 was the pioneer of the seventh generation gaming consoles and provide an unreal gaming experience.

The Xbox 360 will come with everything you need to hook it up to a standard television, or a HD television. You will get the best quality out of a HDTV with 1080p resolution, but by still hooking the Xbox 360 to a regular television will give you the experience of new generation gaming.

Setting up your console the way you want it, is key to its performance. If you are looking to set it up on a HDTV, you will need to get a hybrid component/composite cable which is only provided in the pro and elite versions. But setting it up on your T.V. isn’t the only thing that makes the Xbox 360 the most advanced gaming console out there.

One of the new features of the Xbox 360 is the ability to turn your console on without pushing the button on the tower itself. Starting your console can be done in two ways, which is on the tower itself or the new feature button in the middle of your controller. Once the console is started, you can browse the Xbox 360’s own user interface, so that you don’t need a DVD inside the optical drive or a built in flash memory. Some of things that can be browsed on the hard disk are pictures, music, video, and games that you may have downloaded, or installed.

You can also use the interface to check out things are in any USB storage drives attached or Windows computers connected. Once you place a game disc in, you can immediately play it from there.

During gameplay, this is where the Xbox 360 really starts to go to work. The Xbox 360 uses a processor named Xenon which contains three symmetrical cores having a 3.2 GHz clock speed. This ensures that loading times are as quick as possible and frame rates are smooth. These speeds can vary depending on how well the game takes advantage of the processor.

But speed isn’t the only thing this console is made up of. The Xbox 360 has the capability of displaying really high-end graphics if the game that you put in, uses it to the fullest extent. Some of the capabilities that this console has are alpha blending, z-buffering, and 4x GSAA.

These two main components work really hard and can heat up the system during prolonged gameplay. Fortunately, the latest Xbox 360s having the Jasper motherboard do not suffer as much heat problems as the older models that usually lead to critical red ring errors. Be sure to take care of the internal components because any abuse to them will drastically lower the performance of your Xbox 360 and in the long run prevent it from working.
